Mrs. Lee has never lived anywhere else but Metter; the city is where she was born and has been her home her whole life. She was their daughter and the product of her parents, John Alva Turner and Sara Lee Turner, who gave birth to her.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and had been for a considerable amount of time. Her whole professional career was spent at Twin City Manufacturing, which lasted for nineteen years. After that, she worked for American Argo for a considerable amount of time throughout that period. She began her career in the food service industry in 1995 with Candler County Food Services, where she remained worked for the subsequent fifteen years, right up until the age of 80, when she took early retirement.
She continued to prepare Sunday dinner for her entire family until she became 90 years old, which included her children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Her “Sunday Fried Chicken” was a dish that was always available at her establishment, and it was a staple there. She crocheted afghans and baby blankets for her family, her friends, and anyone else who asked for one.
She gave the afghans and baby blankets to her family. Her favorite activities were pickle making, as well as canning and freezing food, and especially making pickles. “Ma’s Sugar Cookies” was the name of everyone’s go-to sugar cookie recipe, and there was a solid reason for this. She poured a lot of love into each and every batch of these cookies, which she cooked herself. She made sure that they were given to EACH AND EVERYONE!
