Mrs. Burd has always been accepted as one of the Hollimons’ own. She was born on July 28, 1949, in Newport News, Virginia to the late ET Hollimon and Joan Eagan Hollimon.

Her parents were already dead at this point in time. Her great-grandfather on her father’s side was also given the surname ET Hollimon. Unfortunately, she never got to know her biological father because he died while her mother was still carrying her. Even after he died, she was still developing within her mother’s womb. After working at Pembroke Elementary for 50 years, Patty is now enjoying retirement and seizing any opportunities that come her way. Patty is making the most of her retirement by seizing any opportunity that comes her her.

Over her many years as a member of the Pembroke United Methodist Church, she was a dedicated teacher and worshiper at the church’s Sunday school and services. During this time, she was also in charge of the Sunday school. During this period, she also served as the Sunday school’s superintendent. The church where she was working at the time needed a teacher, and she volunteered her services. Her parents and two siblings—Thomas Hollimon and Dawn O’Brien—had already relocated before she departed.

Her departure came as no shock to anyone. We had counted on that happening. No one else in her family had ever reached such a ripe old age, and she was the only one to do so. Her parents and grandparents were already gone when she was taken from this world. Her Pembroke-residing husband of 54 years, TD Burd; her Pembroke-residing son Davy Burd and his wife Dana; her Pembroke-residing daughter Cathy Pendleton and her husband Ken; her Pembroke-residing brothers Tommy Hollimon and his wife Gail and Robin Hollimon and his wife Gail.
