According to the words of one of her biographers, “Kate McKaig was, first and foremost, a woman after God.” You could tell this about her based on the generous and joyful way in which she interacted with other people, the general sense of contentment that she exuded, and the love that she had for the people who were in her immediate environment.
She did not harbor any apprehensions towards sharing the information with anyone. This was one of the things that stood out to me as being particularly evident to me at the time. During the first academic year that Hannah, Kate, and I were classmates at Stout together, we were frequently referred to as “the three amigos.” From attending Cru together to getting ice cream at Culver’s to eating supper in the commons to a whole host of other little activities in between.
Kate was able to make others around her happier and give them hope by making use of the gifts that God had given her. These gifts included the ability to offer happiness to others.
