Jamie Long Obituary, Death Cause – Carteret County’s Director of Human Resources and her husband were both killed in a shooting that is currently under investigation by the sheriff’s deputies. The couple’s home on Hedrick Boulevard, which is located outside of Morehead City, was the location of the shooting on Saturday. Jaime Long’s body was discovered inside the house by deputies, while David Long’s body was located in the backyard.
According to reports, the spouse, who was 39 years old, had shot himself in the head and was taken to Carteret Health Care, where he passed away shortly after arriving there. The facts surrounding the shooting death of the wife are still being investigated by the deputies. Jaime Long, who had reached the age of 47 at the time, had served as the director of human resources for the county for more than six years.
According to the investigators, her husband had recently been struggling with issues related to his mental health, and it is likely that this was a significant factor in the shooting. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jaime, a treasured leader of our Carteret County government family,” said Tommy Burns, who is the manager of Carteret County. “Jaime will be greatly missed by all of us.” The news of her passing comes as a tremendous blow to each and every one of us on a deeply personal level.
Her passing will leave a void in the lives of many people, as she was an exceptional friend, coworker, and advocate for them. Jaime had a lot of wonderful ideas for our county team, and we are going to keep working hard to make those ideas a reality. According to the county, the flag of Carteret County will be lowered to half-staff on all of the county’s buildings in her honor.
