Dorothy Brain Obituary, Death Cause – Dorothy was one of the first members of the society when it was first established. Dorothy put in a lot of hard work for the community in a variety of different ways, including serving on the local P&C, teaching Scripture at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Lurnea, travelling to senior care institutions, and arranging craft groups, to name a few. In addition, she went to senior care institutions and organised craft groups. She was an extremely devoted member of the community.
When We found out that Life Member Dorothy Brain had passed away recently at the age of 99, it was quite a tragic and devastating event. In addition to that, at the time of her passing, she was our senior member still in existence. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Dorothy and her husband Gordon, who served as President of the organisation, were the driving forces behind the society. Gordon was also a member of the board of directors.
She was presented with the British Empire Medal in 1981 for the service that she had rendered, and she was made a Member of the Order of Liverpool in 2009 for the accomplishments that she had accomplished. Both of these honours were given to her in appreciation of the work that she had done. In October of 2017, Dorothy was presented with this photograph as a gift of a lifetime membership to the City of Liverpool & District Historical Society. The membership was valid for the recipient’s whole lifetime. At that point, the membership card was given to her to use. Dorothy, I hope that you are successful in locating the peace and quiet that you have been seeking.
