Derek Meyers Obituary, Death Cause – I have been thrown into a state of terrible grief after learning of the passing of Derek Meyers of Walsh Acres, who was a dear friend of mine and a colleague in the Legislative Assembly. He was a brilliant leader who made important contributions to the expansion of community in both our city and our province. His impact was substantial. Both of these areas were the primary focus of his attention and efforts.
Because of the captivating presence he radiated and the upbeat outlook on life that he consistently upheld, others looked up to him as a model to emulate in their own lives. Derek placed a strong value on his family and made it a top priority to include them in as many of his activities as possible. We worked together to promote for a variety of various causes, but he was a True Champion for topics including mental health, the prevention of suicide, and the FROST Regina winter festival!
During the winter months, he wished to instill in people the desire to face the weather and take part in activities that were beneficial to both their physical and emotional well-being. He did this by encouraging them to participate in outdoor activities. His objective was to persuade others to spend more time in natural environments.
During this difficult time, Laurie and her family are at the forefront of my thoughts and prayers.
I am thinking about and praying for them constantly. At any given time, each and every one of you is remembered in our thoughts and prayers. We are going to miss you very much, Derek, and we are going to think about you quite a bit in the future. Our lives have been able to converge due to the bizarre and insane nature of the society we live in. Because of this, I will be grateful to you until the end of time. I am sorry to say this, but it looks like we won’t be friends anymore. Rest in peace.
