After he retired, he became involved in a variety of organisations, some of which include the Idaho County Republican Central Committee, the Freedom Credit Union Board, the Kamiah Bible Church, where he served as a deacon, and Kiwanis (Oregon), where he was vice president. He also served as vice president of Kiwanis (Oregon). Clay will be remembered by the lady he has been married to for the past 55 years, Sally, as well as by his daughter Lisa Kellim, his grandchildren Michael and Emily, and his daughter-in-law.
