Autto McGowan Obituary, Death Cause – Autto G. McGowan, who resided in Pontiac and was 83 years old at the time of his passing on March 31, 2023, passed away in his home in Pontiac at 3:52 p.m. The rituals associated with his cremation will be carried out as he had previously stated his desire for them to be. A memorial service will be held on the Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Bob & Ringo’s Restaurant & Smokehouse in Pontiac, Illinois.

Before he was born, his mother and father, along with one of his brothers, Wendell McGowan, and three of his sisters, Wanda Skonetski, Betty Lawler, and Elma Jineel Oakes, all perished away. He is survived by one sister, Wanda Skonetski. Autto attended school at Russell Springs, Kentucky, which is where he acquired his schooling. He was a Union Carpenter in the building sector for more than three decades, during which time he labored.

Russell Springs, Kentucky was the place where he made his debut into the world on January 16, 1940. His parents, Autto McGowan and Erie Wisdom, were there to greet him. Surviving members of the family include a daughter, Amanda N. Hill of East Peoria; grandchildren Brianna N. Wilkerson and Estella Hill, both of East Peoria; brothers Jimmie McGowan of Knoxville, Tennessee, Milze (Cassie) McGowan of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Phillip McGowan of Pontiac, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Marcia McGowan of Pontiac, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and friends, as well as working in his garden, going fishing, and sipping a fine beer. He was a member of the Pontiac Sportsman Club and enjoyed all of these activities. He cherished the time he got to spend with his loved ones. Donations to the Pontiac Sportsman Club are being accepted in place of flowers at this time.
