Anne Marie Katemopoulos Obituary, Death Cause – Anne Marie Katemopoulos has died. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. Anne-Marie Katemopoulos, who was a dear friend of mine and a choral music partner of mine at Lincoln High School for the past 13 years, passed away unexpectedly last night. As a direct result of this, I am having a very challenging day today. Together, we were able to construct a robust choral department that was effective despite the fact that I had transferred to West Valley College during its early stages of development. She had a direct influence on the lives of tens of thousands of individuals, including the lives of my own children, and the number involved in this statement is in the thousands.
AMK has been a caregiver for her sister throughout the course of the last few years; yet, in truth, she has always been a carer for everybody and everyone she has ever come into contact with. Her acts were always motivated by love and gentleness, regardless of the tone that she used, whether she was scolding at a student or laughing with them. When I moved away from Lincoln in 2005, AMK pleasantly surprised me with a performance she had rehearsed with the choirs and bands of an arrangement of the ballad “For Good” from the musical Wicked written by Stephen Sondheim.
AMK had written the arrangement herself, and she had rehearsed it with the choirs and bands. She gave me the command to come forward in front of the stage so that I could be presented with a flower by a never-ending stream of our students while they sang to me. It screwed me up in the best ways that could possibly be imagined.
