Richard Obituary, Death Cause – A hole has been left in the hearts of the Smithtown Hunt and each and every one of its members as a result of the demise of Dr. Richard Legouri. Richie was a lifelong member of the hunt and brought his larger-than-life personality, compassion for all, and passion for riding to hounds each and every year. Richie was an avid rider. Richie’s presence was felt throughout the entire quest.
Everyone will grieve his passing in their own unique ways. Prayers are being said for him and for every member of his family as they go through this difficult time. In a short while, the posted arrangements will be accessible for your perusal. The news of Richie’s passing has left me in utter disbelief and misery. Known him for a good number of years back when he first started taking part in the hunt, and he kept his horse stabled on Joe Pizzini’s property at
the time (I boarded my horse there, too). Years later, when I was kicked by a horse and ended up in the emergency room with a fractured wrist, he shocked me by being my orthopedic doctor. At that time, I was in the hospital with a broken wrist. We took advantage of the time spent waiting for our x-rays and casts to catch up on each other’s life. Memories that are warm and fuzzy. I hope and pray that you.
Dr. Legouri, will continue to make progress. Richie made everything a lot of fun to participate in. Whether you’re out on the hunt or having a good time at a party, you should always be prepared. He was a brilliant illustration of the saying that one should make the most of every single second of their life. Everyone who knew him will remember him with fondness in the future and long for the days when he was still among them. His family and all of his friends have my sincerest condolences in this time of loss.
